As a brand under the JIMA Group, Jima Containers has been deeply engaged in the metal packaging industry for over 10 years. We specialize in providing metal cans (including aluminum cans and tinplate cans), metal lids, and canning services, with our products widely used in packaging scenarios for various beverages such as cola, beer, energy drinks, and apple juice. In terms of new product research and development, we have always actively explored with market demand as the guide. We have successf
Project Background
Our partner is a local brand specializing in organic nuts, previously using PET plastic cans.
They faced three core challenges:
Environmental pressure: Generating approximately 95 tons of non-biodegradable plastic packaging waste annually, which led to a 12% loss of consumers due to the "non-eco-friendly" brand image.
Misaligned brand positioning: The low-cost texture of PET jars failed to match the brand’s "organic, premium" positioning.
Cost volatility: PET material procurement costs fluctuated by up to 18% annually due to crude oil prices, causing budget instability.
Customized Solution
We delivered a 100% recyclable tinplate can packaging solution with the following core features:
Eco-Conscious Material Selection
Used food-grade tinplate compliant with EU food contact standards, printed with water-based inks free of heavy metal residues.
Clearly labeled "100% Recyclable Tinplate" with recycling instructions to raise consumer environmental awareness.
Freshness-Locking Structure Upgrade
Integrated double-layer food-grade silicone gaskets, extending the nut shelf life from 6 months (PET cans) to 9 months.
Reduced food waste from spoilage, indirectly lowering carbon emissions.
Lightweight Design Optimization
Optimized can body curvature and wall thickness to reduce single-can weight from 165g to 142g while maintaining structural strength.
Cut raw material usage by 14% and reduced per-can carbon footprint by approximately 0.32kg CO₂e.
Project Results
Environmental Impact: After implementation, the client eliminated ~95 tons of plastic waste annually, equivalent to reducing 380 tons of CO₂ emissions (equal to the annual carbon sequestration of 21,000 trees).
Market Response: Post-upgrade, brand repurchase rate increased by 18%, with 23% of new customers citing "eco-friendly packaging" as their primary reason for choosing the brand.
Brand Value: The packaging solution won the industry "Green Packaging Innovation Award," helping the client successfully enter 3 high-end organic supermarkets.
Cost Stability: Tinplate material prices fluctuate by only 5% annually, enabling long-term cost control for the client’s packaging budget.
环境压力:每年产生约95吨不可生物降解的塑料包装废弃物,因“不环保”的品牌形象而导致消费者流失12%.
For the core needs of "freshness retention, lightweight design, and brand personality" from domestic craft brewery Mài Xiàng Brewing, JIMA Container delivered a tailor-made tin can packaging solution. This enabled their fresh beer products to break through the limitations of traditional glass bottles and expand into new consumption scenarios such as takeout and camping.
Core Challenges
Freshness Retention for Craft Beer
Craft fresh beer is extremely sensitive to oxygen. Traditional glass bottles with caps cannot guarantee 30 days of freshness, making can sealing performance a critical factor.
Scenario Adaptation
The brand aimed to cover outdoor camping, takeout delivery, and other scenarios, requiring packaging that is both impact-resistant and lightweight, while also being easy to stack for transportation.
Visual Brand Differentiation
The craft beer industry is highly competitive, so the client needed packaging that conveys a "fresh, artisanal, niche" brand identity to quickly attract target consumers on retail shelves.
JIMA Container Solutions
1. Material & Sealing Technology
We used food-grade tinplate with a 2.8/2.8g/㎡ tin coating, paired with a two-component epoxy-phenolic internal coating, to achieve high-efficiency barrier against oxygen and light, ensuring stable beer flavor for 30 days.
The can body features a 0.25mm lightweight design with reinforced rib structures, reducing weight by 60% compared to traditional glass bottles while withstanding 1.5m drop impacts to meet durability needs for takeout and outdoor use.
2. Visual & Structural Customization
For printing, we employed 150-line offset printing + partial matte UV to reproduce the brand's hand-drawn label design, emphasizing the "artisanal brewing" texture. Anti-slip texture was added to the can body for improved grip.
A full-aperture easy-open lid (52mm diameter) was adopted, preserving the "大口畅饮" (full-mouth drinking) experience of craft beer while eliminating the safety risks of glass bottles.
3. Flexible Production Support
To meet the craft brewery's "small-batch, multi-run" production pattern, we activated a flexible production line supporting minimum orders of 3,000 cans per SKU, with sample lead times reduced to 5 days. This allows the client to quickly test new products and respond to market demand.
Client Value
Scenario Expansion
The portability and sealing of tin cans allowed Mài Xiàng Brewing's fresh beer to successfully enter new channels like camping gear stores and food delivery platforms, increasing off-premise sales from 12% to 35%.
Brand Enhancement
The customized packaging reinforced the "fresh, authentic" brand perception, enabling a 15% price premium over glass bottle equivalents and an 8% increase in repeat purchase rates.
Supply Chain Optimization
JIMA's flexible small-batch production capability eliminated inventory overstock risks, reducing the client's new product iteration cycle from 2 months to 1 month and significantly improving market responsiveness.
A leading agricultural and food enterprise (with 20+ years of experience in grain processing) planned to launch its premium corn product collection — covering 3 core categories:
Grade-A non-GMO corn kernels (sourced from its 5,000-acre organic corn base in Northeast China, with a moisture content controlled below 13%);
Artisanal baked corn snacks (low-oil, no preservatives, available in 2 unique flavors: cheese-butter and black sesame);
Specialty high-gluten corn flour (finely milled to 80-mesh, suitable for high-end pastries and gluten-free diets).
The brand’s key demands for packaging were: 1) 12-month freshness retention for corn products; 2) Visual alignment with its "luxury agricultural" positioning; 3) User-friendly design for end consumers.
To address these needs, we provided a customized food-grade tinplate can solution with 3 targeted optimizations:
Freshness protection: Made of 0.23mm thick food-grade tinplate (compliant with FDA and EU food contact standards), the can’s double-sealed seam structure achieved a 99.9% airtight rate — effectively isolating moisture (moisture penetration rate
